During my recent visit to Cape Breton Island, I had the pleasure of exploring the Eltuek Arts Centre, a beautiful space that embodies both the artistry and spirit of the Mi’kmaw word “Eltuek,” meaning “We are making (it) together.” This phrase captures the heart of the Centre perfectly, as it serves as a gathering place where artists, residents, and visitors come together to create, collaborate, and inspire one another.

Eltuek Arts Centre is a truly contemporary and artist-led space that is built to support a creative community. With artist studios, an Open Studio for shared workspaces, and gallery and exhibition spaces, the Centre is artist-focused and inclusive. It welcomes creators from across the region, providing them with accessible and affordable spaces to work, showcase, and grow their craft.

The Eltuek Arts Centre’s design is simply stunning. The exterior is wrapped in magnificent wood panels, giving the building warmth and character.
